This is expedition travel at its best. It's a voyage aboard the 70-guest Sea Lion down a beautiful coast experiencing the full gamut of tropical diversity: islands, reef systems and rainforests - with an itinerary that's a loose framework that gives spontaneity, discovery and magic room to maneuver! Count on snorkeling and scuba diving with expert dive masters in Belize's best locations. Kayaking in crystal-clear waters. Roaming coastal rivers, home to monkeys, iguanas, manatees and toucans.

Why visit both Copán and Tikal? You may wonder if it's a duplication to see two Mayan cities on one expedition. We can assure you that there is no duplication, and it is absolutely the best experience of the heights of Mayan civilization you could ask for. And a perfect way to make the most of your time in Central America - conveniently combining a natural history-focused coastal voyage with a splendid cultural adventure.

Copán's carved stelae and astonishing Hieroglyphic Stairway, as well as the architectural details of the extant buildings, make it one of the greatest repositories of "treasure" in the Americas. It is, if you will, the Athens of the Mayan world. Tikal, on the other hand, is less about art than about grandeur - from its site in the heart of the jungle to its soaring temples and vast Plaza, it is unequivocally the grandest of all the Mayan sites, once home to more than 100,000 inhabitants. Visiting both not only exposes you to significant aspects of the Mayan civilization, it also acquaints you with the interior landscapes and wildlife of both Honduras (Copán) and Guatemala (Tikal) - giving you an excellent counterpoint to the marine environments we'll visit on the coastal voyage.
